Hydrated Lime

Horticultural grade hydrated lime is frequently used as an ingredient in mushroom substrate casing material. It is primarily used to raise the pH of these casing materials. A common casing recipe is: 10 parts peat, 10 parts coarse vermiculite, 1 part gypsum, 1/4 part hydrated lime.
